Your Best Feng Shui Desk Position
31st Jul 2025
Feeling supported, in control, and positive can be as simple as moving your desk, especially if you work from home or spend long hours at a desk.
The Command Position is the ideal position for your desk. It symbolises Control over your environment and future, Security when you can see what’s coming, and Empowerment and ability to handle challenges effectively.
The command position means sitting with support behind you, being able to see the door and window, and having space in front of your desk.
- You should be able to see the room entrance, but don’t be directly in line with the door. This setup helps you feel more in control and reduces subconscious stress, leading to greater confidence and calm.
- A solid wall behind you provides support and stability.
- Avoid sitting with your back to the door or window, as it can create vulnerability or unexpected setbacks.
- Keep an open space in front of the desk, leaving room for opportunities to arrive.
- Clear desk clutter. It allows fresh energy and ideas to flow and lightens your mental load.
❌ Desk Placements to Avoid
Directly in line with the door. This is called the ‘coffin position’. It also puts you in line with a rush of chi when the door opens, and this type of chi is most uncomfortable.
Facing a wall with no room to grow or ‘see ahead.’
Under ceiling beams. This can make you feel heavy or oppressed.
In a high-traffic path or where people walk behind you constantly.
