Holistic Healing

Sickness or distress in ancient times were healed holistically, meaning the person's body, mind and spirit were all treated at the same time. His symptoms were not taken into account. His whole being was. 

The person was considered to be diseased, meaning 'not at ease' (dis-ease) because his energy was out of balance. The healer released blockages and restored balance in the body's energy system. With the person's energy back in balance, optimum conditions were created for his body's own healing process to begin. These healing methods still exist within many cultures.

 

Real health and well-being come from balance and harmony of the mind, body and spirit at the same time, because they all interact. If you try to improve one area and neglect the other two, you create imbalance.

Conventional medicine treats the symptoms of an illness rather than the cause of it. This relieves, but often suppresses, the problem, which can re-appear later on, either in the same form or in a different or worse one.

For instance, treating a physical illness, which could have an emotional cause = imbalance.

 

An example: emotional stress can create digestive disorders. Have you ever experienced a time of feeling 'screwed up' over something, and later had an upset tummy or the runs? This is what is meant by emotional stress creating digestive problems. If you take medication for the digestive symptoms, you may feel okay for a while, but you haven't dealt with the emotional cause, so the 'problem' can re-appear, or get worse, or even go on to produce something else in the body, such as migraine or joint pain. Then the medication starts increasing, possibly producing side effects, with more medication prescribed to relieve the side effects. And so it goes on.

By expanding your awareness of the meaning of balance within your personal energy flow, and by taking more responsibility for your health and the way your life is going, you really can motivate your own healing process and direction in life, and control a lot of your stress, ill health and misfortune.

We often hear 'it's all in the mind' or 'mind over matter', meaning that we could be making ourselves sick through the way we are thinking. It's true that our mind can make us ill. But if we have the power to make ourselves ill, we also have the power to make ourselves well.

Have a go at getting your energy back in balance. This means considering your body, mind, emotions and spirit. We all know what body, mind and emotions mean. Your spirit is what inspires and motivates you and makes your life worth living. It's the creative, imaginative part of you, and if this is not considered, you can feel worthless and hopeless. We all have qualities and talents. We are all unique, and we are all important.

 

keep an open mind and have a go
You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Just one small step will help you to feel healthier, more positive and energetic. When you feel great, you open your energy to opportunities. Then things will really start to happen for you.

As you walk the energy pathway and begin to feel better, you'll be fascinated with your new knowledge and will want to know more. Explore different ways of getting back in balance, because they have depths you can't imagine - new ways of thinking and being, and powerful ways of caring for yourself, others, nature and the world.
