Fossils

Fossils are the remains of creatures which existed long ago. Fossils range from thousands of years to many millions of years in age.  The fossils shown here can be collected for general interest, and they can also be used to energise Earth energy areas of the home when applying feng shui.  These fossils all come from Morocco.

Fossil: Orthocera - large

Orthocera

These orthocera fossils are about 400 million years old.  They are the finely-preserved shells of creatures similar to squid.  These squid-like creatures once swam throughout the world's oceans.  The tapering orthocera fossils can be used to decorate the home, or can be made into jewellery pendants.

Fossil: Goniatite

Goniatite

Goniatites are an extinct group of ammonoid, which are shelled cephalopods related to squids, octopuses and cuttlefish.  Some 400 million years ago, goniatites originated from within more primitive anarcestine ammonoids.  The goniatites all possessed an external shell, which is divided internally into chambers. The animal lived in the largest of the external chambers.

Pyrite Ammonite

Ammonites are the most widely known fossil, having a ribbed spiral-form shell.  These creatures lived in the seas between 240 - 65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs. Ammonites belong to a group of predators known as cephalopods, which includes their living species, octopus, squid, cuttlefish and nautilus.
